TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Games wraps up summer time competition this weekend as Flag Football makes its return to the SSG calendar after an 11-year absence.

As a familiar host throughout the summer, the Games return to Pasco County and connect with local sports industry partner Florida’s Sports Coast to put on the 7-vs.-7 tournament on July 13-14 at the Land O’ Lakes Recreational Complex.

Teaming up with the Florida Flag Football League, the two-day competition will feature two divisions, Men’s and Women’s Open.

“We’re excited to see some seriously good competition and teams battle it out this weekend,” said state director Norm McLean. “Currently, we’ve got 18 men’s squads and 12 women’s teams from all over the state ready to play at a high level.  This weekend’s tournament is going to be an exciting experience.”

After a brief break in action, the Sunshine State Games will return to host its annual International Beach Games on Clearwater Beach at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort September 27-29.
