Over 50 Water Polo teams to compete in Sunshine State Games in Broward County

Sunshine State Games Water Polo brings the month of June to a close with 56 teams playing for three days at the Coral Springs Aquatic Center beginning Friday morning at 9:30 a.m.

The Water Polo Championships is the fourth Florida community to host a Sunshine State Games event since Memorial Day Weekend. Broward County joins Alachua, Clay and Polk County on the rosters of host communities over the last five weekends.

Friday, June 25

6:40 p.m.: Final Game Start Time

The eight divisions of play range in age from 12 and Under Coed to Men’s and Women’s Open.
12 and Under Coed – 4 Teams
14 and Under Coed – 7 Teams
16 and Under Boys – 8 Teams
16 and Under Girls – 4 Teams
18 and Under Boys – 9 Teams
18 and Under Girls – 9 Teams
Men’s Open – 10 Teams
Women’s Open – 5 Teams

Over the three days of play, the 56 teams will play a combined total of 120 games, over 35 hours of time in the pool. Teams from the Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Sarasota and Orlando areas will be among those in action.

The annual Sunshine State Games Water Polo Championships is an annual event hosted by the Florida Sports Foundation, in conjunction with Broward Sports. Including this weekend’s Water Polo Championships, over 2,000 athletes have competed in a Sunshine State Games event since May 28.

Also partnering with the Florida Sports Foundation to present the 2021 Games Calendar of Events has been Airstream Ventures, Clay County Tourism, the Gainesville Sports Commission and Polk County Sports Marketing.
